A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
